Printing Guidelines

Cheetah™ flexible filament is the fastest and easiest to print flexible filament on the market. The focus in development of this material was on optimizing the user experience. The result is a filament that is printable across all types of desktop 3D printers at ABS and PLA speeds, many times twice the speed of other flexible materials on the market.

Flexion X60 for the Flexion Extruder  Ultra Flexible Filament

Finally a filament that utilizes the full potential of the Flexion Extruder. This is, by far, the most flexible filament on the market. It feels like a rubber band, and produces finished parts that are completely tactile, flexible no matter what infill you use, and highly functional for applications that require stretch, flexibility, or compliance. Since it will only work with the Flexion Extruder, you can print parts that nobody else can!

Product Description

Flexion X60 Ultra-Flexible Filament is the softest filament available on the market today, by far. At Shore 60A, it is much softer than Ninjaflex or Filaflex. It is about the flexibility of an inner-tube. This materials is perfect for that ultra-flexible application: rubbery toys, comfortable wearables, parts that need to stretch to fit, gaskets, releasable molds, and so much more.

  • Non-toxic.
  • Incredible flexibility and elasticity.
  • Diameter of 1.75; variations ± 0.05 mm; roundness ± 0.05 mm
  • Only printable with the Flexion Extruder. Recommended for use with the standard hotend (not HT).
  • Shipped vacuum-sealed with desiccant to keep it free of moisture (not prone to moisture absorption, but best to be careful)

Recommended print settings:

  • Print on unheated, solvent-cleaned polymer surface such as Buildtak, PEI, Kapton, or Vinyl hairspray
  • Recommended print temperature 210°C ± 5°C (NEVER approach or exceed breakdown temperature of 230°C)
  • Print speed – up to 40mm/s. Start very slow (20mm/s) and work up from there. Slow down for bridging and infill.
  • Extrusion multiplier – 1.1 compared to rigid material
  • Extrusion width – 90% of nozzle diameter (0.36 for a 0.4mm nozzle)

Filaflex by Recreus

Filaflex is a premium flexible filament. With a shore hardness of 82A, it is the softest and squishiest filament we carry in our line of Splash Spools. Filaflex is the original elastic filament for 3D printers, this revolutionary material is a TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) with a polyurethane base and some additives to make it printable in your 3D printer. Filaflex has an incredible elasticity that allows you to create elastic printed parts for your projects. Now you can create your own shoes or sneakers at home!!

  • You can combine FILAFLEX with PLA or ABS and create new hybrid prints with all new capabilities.
  • It is resistant  to fuel, solvents, and acetone.
  • Although Filaflex is not toxic. No, is not food friendly and we don’t recommend for medical use.
  • Filaflex doesn’t smell, it is odorless and doesn’t produce toxic gases. It is safe to print with in an office space.
  • We recommend using direct drive extruders. Although we have tested FilaFlex using Bowden extruders and achieving successful prints at very low speeds,Bowden extruders are not highly recommended due to the long distance between the hotend and stepper motor.

 

Printer Settings

  • Similar to NinjaFlex settings, if you have a profile for NinjaFlex start with that,
  • Temperature: 230-260 C
  • Speed: 20-80 mm/s
  • Layer Height: .1-.25mm
  • Retraction: 0-4.5mm 50 mm/s
  • No, kapton, blue tape or hairspray needed unless you are printing with a PEI bed. For PEI  bed use glue stick.

No Heated Bed Needed

nGen_FLEX by colorFabb

Heat resistance 130C | Steam Sterilizable | Great layer-to-layer adhesion | Tough prints

nGen_FLEX was developed with Eastman chemical company. Based on their work with co-polyesters nGen_FLEX makes a very compatible materials with other Amphora grade materials. This means you can expect to mix both materials with good adhesion properties to truly form a dual extruded model.

* nGen_FLEX was designed to work with a Buildtak 3D printing surface and we find it does not adhere well to PEI (Lulzbut) print plates. If you have a PEI plate please consider Cheetah as an alternative.

With just the right amount of flex, nGen_FLEX is best described as a semi flexible materials. Still capable of being fed through a Bowden tube and printed at regular PLA speeds.

Fast printing

nGen_FLEX is engineered as a semi-flexible material which allows most users to print at regular print speeds, cutting down build times compared to other very flexible filaments. Also bowden style 3D printers, 1.75mm and 2.85mm, will be able to push this filament through without much trouble.

Temperature resistance

nGen_FLEX is temperature resistant to about 130C. That means 3D printed objects can be steam sterilized at 121C which is a great asset for medical / laboratory environments.

Flexible and tough

Printed in single perimeters and without infill or very little, objects will feel quite flexible. Printed with multiple perimeters and more infill objects will be very firm and tough. The material is rated at a Shore A  hardness level of 95.

Printing Guidelines

  • Heated platform – 80/100C
  • Print speed  PLA speeds, but at elevated temperatures of 250/260C.
  • Printing temperature – 240/260C
  • Minimal layer time – adjust the minimum layer time when you want to print without cooling for best layer adhesion.
  • Cooling – As always, for tough strong parts with excellent layer adhesion colorFabb recommends using 0% fan
  • Retraction PLA retraction values should be a good starting value for most machines. One can expect slightly higher values of retraction speed and retraction length.

SainSmart® Flexible Filament

 Description:  Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is a high strength flexible filament. TPU is essentially polyurethane, it belongs to the TPE class of thermoplastics (similar to the stuff NinjaFlex is made of).  In addition to being stronger compared to other flexible materials on the market, we found TPU to be easier to print with, with great layer to layer bonding.

The shore hardness of our TPU is: 95A

TPU is resistant to oil, grease and abrasions and has many applications including; automotive, power tools, sporting goods, medical devices, drive belts, footwear, inflatable rafts, profile applications, etc. TPU is also a popular material found in outer cases of mobile electronic devices, such as mobile phones.

  • Best used with prints requiring a high level of detail, high resolution text or intricate parts
  • Great for use on unsupported vertical printing
  • Excellent in shock-absorption applications

Flexy 90A

Flexy filament has a shore hardness of 90A making it the second lowest of the brands we carry.  The only “squishier” flexible filament is NinjaFlex with a shore hardness of 85A.   It offers a lower cost and is easier to work with.
